Hop on the Holiday Stroll Shuttle and explore the whole neighborhood! The Shuttle is sponsored by Coffee by Design, and will make 6 stops around the East End throughout the day. The route includes stops in East Bayside (Maine Mead Works and Running with Scissors), on Washington Ave (Silly’s Restaurant), on top of Munjoy Hill (Benchmark Real Estate), on Congress Street (North Star Café) and on India Street (Coffee By Design). The shuttle wil run in both directions.

Several businesses will be set up as Warming Stations as well. Stop by for a special treat!

To enter the raffle, all you need to do is pick up a raffle card and visit 5 shops during the Holiday Stroll on Saturday. At each shop you’ll need to have a staffperson mark that you’ve been there. Once you have 5 marks on your raffle card, you can drop it off at the business of your choice to enter thier raffle. Each business will be raffling off their own prize, and each person can enter only one business’s raffle- so choose wisely!

This will be a great way to get some of your Christmas Shopping done, or get a special treat for yourself– with none of the guilt!

This First Friday, you’ll be able to hop on a trolley downtown to visit the East End! So no excuses. The trolleys ill run from 4:30 until 8:30 during the next First Friday Art Walk, October 2.

After a year of construction, the brand new Residence Inn by Marriott opened in Portland’s East End district in July.  Located at 145 Fore Street –one block from the new Ocean Gateway Terminal and Portland’s Visitors Center — the Residence Inn Portland Downtown/Waterfront will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Chapin Realty, LLC.  The hotel has 179 suites, many with views of the harbor, featuring king sized beds, separate work desks and living areas as well as fully-equipped kitchens. Guests may choose from a variety of room configurations, ranging from studio suites with water views to one and two bedroom suites with city and courtyard views. Three East End shops, Ember Grove, Portland Fiber Gallery and Weaving Studio, and KnitWit Yarn Shop, will be open for the Maine Fiberarts Tour next weekend.

The event is held the first full weekend in August every year, and is a great opportunity to meet with artists, visit with farmers, and participate in fiber-related demonstrations and activities all around Maine.

Cultivating Community is holding its 2nd Annual “Boyd Street Bash” on Sunday at the Urban Farm on Boyd Street (next to Franklin Arterial) from noon to 2 pm.

There will be music, crafts, kids’ activities, a raspberry bake-off, yummy food, and an urban sustainability fair. Bring the family!

For the raspberry bake-off, sign up with Cultivating Community. They’ll give you 2 pints of raspberries so you can bake something yummy for the judging on Sunday.

On Sunday July 19th from 1:00 to 3:00 Duckfat and Rabelais will host author, and Boston Globe food columnist, Adam Ried as he makes us some milkshakes and signs copies of his new book Thoroughly Modern Milkshakes. Please come out and meet Adam for a fun afternoon of frosty treats. The famous Duckfat vanilla milkshake is featured in his new book, and we will be celebrating it next door at Hugo’s with a demonstration and a tasting. Adam’s book will be available for sale and he will be signing copies. The event will take place at Hugo’s, 88 Middle street, just next door to Rabelais.
